While the news media bombards us with the terrible disaster in Haiti, I want to remind you of a much less convenient story that cannot and must not be pushed to the back burner of world attention. The government of Iran is holding a "show trial" of seven innocent men and women.
Accused of a slew of ridiculous charges, denied their chosen defense counsel, and forbidden to see their families, these brave men and women are guilty of nothing more than praying and believing in something other than the official Shi'a Islam of the current regime. One has to worry what that regime is afraid of when it forces a Nobel Peace Prize winner into exile rather than permitting her to meet with her legal clients.
Since it's inconvenient and difficult for the usual talking heads to report this story, I am including links to the reports of the Baha'i leaders. While the major news outlets race their reporters to Haiti, where at least reporters from the outside world are permitted, take a few moments to read what's happening in Iran.

There won't be a lot of flashy pictures or collapsed buildings or heroic reporters getting interviews. Just the simple story of seven men and women willing to die for their beliefs. A principle that should resonate with many of us.
